Chuck Taylor

So for Christmas I got a pair of Converse. They were the wrong size, so I returned them and got myself a pair of Chuck Taylor hi-tops. I've never actually owned a pair of hi-tops, so this is very much a new experience for me.
A Pair of Converse

My senior year of high school, I had a friend who absolutely adored shoes. She wrote a research paper on the subject, actually. I never read the paper, I'm not sure exactly what her thesis was. BUT, it got me to thinking about... shoes. She had a video or a website or something that gave a bunch of different ways to lace your shoes. So, I thought, COOL! Let's do that.

Of course, until now, I haven't had the right kind of shoes for real actual fun lacing. AND NOW I DO. So I did some research, trying to find the best way to lace these new shoes. For the first few days, I kept them as they were, laced (as in the picture above) as they came out of the box.

Then, over the course of the next few days, I tried out different lacing techniques. The first was the ladder (because it was really the only one I could remember from my high school friend's research.
But it looks kind of messy on lo-tops, let alone hi-tops.

So I went back to the original lacing. Because it looked messy and I didn't like it.

One of my things about my shoes was that I didn't like tying them at the top. It's so much higher than all my other shoes... So I found this one:

This design seemed to work perfectly for my purposes. Only... I have wide feet and skinny legs. In consequence, the top of the shoe was held too tight, and I couldn't get my foot in the dumb thing. So I had to undo that one.

I finally settled on this, as is modeled on my own foot (please, no comments on size. I KNOW THEY'RE HUGE). It still takes me a few minutes to put the dang shoe on because of my feet, but the shoes are comfortable enough when they're on.

So yeah. Shoes. I have quite a few pairs of shoes, some I wear all the time, some I never wear. Anyone else like that? Let me know. Maybe I'll do a bigger feature on my shoes again later. Bwahaha

Just take it with a grain of salt, okay?
